Planet Cake, based in Sydney, make some beautiful cakes, using a decorating style that's slightly different to other Australian cake decorators. If you're particularly passionate about learning the Planet Cake way to create gorgeous cakes, they run courses. If your budget doesn't stretch to a course, then this book is the next best thing. With beautiful photos and easy to follow instructions, this one will leave you very motivated.
Not only good for vegans and vegetarians, the recipes in this book are also perfect when you're baking for anyone with egg or dairy allergies. Each recipe can be easily modified to include eggs, butter and dairy for those who absolutely insist. Who can resist 75 different cupcake recipes?
This book provides a fantastic reference for anyone who wants to try their hand at more traditional decorating techniques. It's got loads of technical information, as well as many, many cakes to reproduce. If you only want to get one decorating book, then this is the one.
Another cupcake book, this time for omnivores. Expand your repertoire well beyond vanilla and chocolate sponge cupcakes with the recipes.
It might not be as inspiring or modern as the Planet Cake book, or include as much technical information as The Home Guide, but this book certainly has its place in my kitchen. The recipe section, which lists quantities for multiple cake pans, is worth the money by itself.
